GBA 2020

GBA2020 FlyerGBA20 was cancelled due to the coronoavirus lockdown
Paul draws a clear distinction between a local church and the society it lives within (2 Cor 6:14-18). James gives believers a solemn warning against friendship with the world (Jam 4:4). But what does that look like for a UK church today?

Paul tells us to do good to all (Gal 6:10). Judah’s exiles had to “seek the welfare of the city” (Jer 29:7). So should churches lovingly serve their local areas with more than just evangelism?

These are the types of questions we have asked two speakers to address for us. Jeremy Walker will present the New Testament principles on the relationship between a local church and the community around it. Mike Judge will go on to talk about the applications of these principles to everyday church life, and highlight some troubling practices. We hope that such interaction will sharpen our understanding of this tricky area.

Then, on the two evenings, we very much look forward to Hugh Collier preaching our Assembly sermons. And on the final morning, Phil Arthur will take us back into history to think about Baptists who had to live and worship in a time of revolution.

Alongside our main speakers, we expect the afternoon report sessions from the UK and overseas to be a highlight again – realistic, moving and encouraging. If you would like to contribute to them please get in touch using the details below.

Colin Grimwood will open the Assembly and Ole Kristian Hunt will close it. GBA’s hosts for 2020 are Colin and Gill Grimwood from Grundisburgh Baptist Church. The Assembly’s purpose is to help and strengthen local churches and we would love to see you there.

The timetable for the three days is shown below. Click on the brochure to view a PDF copy of it.
